48 DECKS AT FIRST LIGHT

5am the sound of eight alarms ring through the compound at Flora Valley Station a quick coffee and they were off, one head stockmen, five ringers, one bore runner and the cook loaded into the trusty Toyotas and headed to the yards. Greeted by the smell of smoke and sound of the fire crackling as eight drivers crowd around trying to keep warm with their trucks chugging along in the distance warming the engines.

As the sun peps above the horizon heifers are trotting through the yards and flowing up the race, fifteen at a time they are counted and loaded into their pens. Forty eight decks and their eight drivers locked loaded ready to head down the Buntine.
