WHAT KEEPS ME COMING BACK?

It all starts the weeks prior, working bees, long days, long nights, and involves stockcamps. Cattle are drafted, nominations are recited over the two-way, and horses are washed with rugs put on.

Stockcamps over the entire Kimberleys are working overtime to ensure the work is done only for a early knockoff and long weekend ahead. Each person pulling their weight to ensure things run smoothly and safely.

For the cold beers await

Is it the ladies steer ride where the backyards are filled with cowboys adjusting helmets, fitting vests and tying the cowgirls in so they too can have a crack at the 8 second ride.

It's the mate ship that keeps me coming back.

Is it the screaming from around the arena and behind the chutes as each gate swings open followed by a pat on the back "jump up good ride mate".

It's the people that keeps me coming back.

Is it watching everyone jump over the fence from near and far to do push-ups in a sandy arena all for a fellow competitor raising awareness for mens mental health.

It's the community spirit that keeps me coming back.

Is it that after floods and fires tearing everything down the small committee pull together to rebuild and pull off an event for the whole community to enjoy.

It's the tough resilience and strong attributes that keeps me coming back.

I truly don't know what it is, but I do know it's truly something spectacular to be apart of. Something you can not understand until you experience it for yourself, to be apart of this community means so much more.

The Kimberleys WA may be a small community spread out over millions of hectares but it is a force to be reckoned with. Filled with cowgirls and cowboys that support one another and will work twice as hard if it means they can have days off for a campdraft and rodeo.

KIMBERLEYS YOU HAVE MY HEART
